America: Life, Liberty, Happiness

Our U.S. Constitution stems from our Declaration of Independence which references “Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. The U.S. Constitution was constructed in such a fashion as to have the least amount of law in order to protect ones naturally born individual unalienable rights, maintaining civility within our nation with the least amount of government intrusion.

Individual natural unalienable rights, means no one can take any of those rights away unless the individual(s) agrees to it. We lend not give away some rights to a structured small government to maintain a stable environment for all.

We are not a pure Democracy but a representative Republic, meaning the people have representatives from their cities, towns, state and at federal level to represent the peoples will. To have pure Democracy only leads to mob rule leaving out people who may have their natural rights encroached upon, so we elect representatives to govern. This ensures the greatest opportunity of preserving naturally born rights for everyone.

Our nation is unique from the rest of the world because our framers of the U.S. Constitution, which fought a war with England, threw off an all-powerful centralized government. We left England’s grasp at a heavy cost in lives in order to regain our freedom from centralized tyranny, returning control of our natural rights that was mostly taken away.

Your natural rights of life, liberty and happiness are the baseline by which we all naturally operate from. Understanding these rights we elect representatives to oversee and protect those rights.

Today we are facing the result of 100 years of Progressive centralized over controlling elitists at the federal level that have instituted controls that have degraded too much of our natural rights.

Today there are some who call themselves Nationalists. A Nationalist fixates only at our federal level in our nation as the most powerful and that is not how our U.S. Constitution was constructed or agreed to by the original 13 colonies, Colonies which became our first states of the United States. The federal level is supposed to be limited in power; not so today.

The individual in America must be awake and always engaged in government business at all levels so it does not draw too much power to itself, as it has done so today.

There is a growing danger today by many that do not understand our structure of government which is meant to prevent all power going to a central government. To lean on such centralized power (Nationalist) invites tyranny; remember Nazi Germany?

So how did we get here? Because the people did not understand nor did they have the time to stay focused on people that would abuse their power; busy with common living.

Our Constitution was written in such a skeletal fashion of laws that it demands the American people stay focused on government at all times. The Constitution was built for limited government. Stay focused on your government or it will stay overly focused on you!

John Locke (1632–1704) as well as Plato and Aristotle were among the most influential philosophers of their day. In Locke’s Two Treatises of Government, he defended the claim that men are by nature free and equal against claims that God had made all people naturally subject to a monarch. He argued that people have rights, such as the right to life, liberty, and property that have a foundation independent of the laws of any particular society.

For the Golden Rule — Confucius around 500 BC had the following for one to live by: “Do not impose on others what you do not wish for yourself.” In the Christian Bible Matthew wrote what Jesus said for one to live by “So whatever you wish that others would do to you do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.

In our Declaration of Independence the writers of the document had agreed that natural law was prominent in man from birth, that life liberty and happiness springs from our birth naturally in every human being. That no one has the right to subjugate one from it without permission.

Let’s look at the second paragraph to the Declaration of Independence:

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed,”

Politicians today take from one and give to the other, in some cases this is fine for a short period of time in order to help the needy pull themselves up and care for themselves, but we all know it has become permanent for some, even generational for families. Benjamin Franklin once said make them uncomfortable in poverty so they will not stay in it, government should make them uncomfortable in poverty.  However, politicians today enable people to stay in poverty and do this for votes and reelection. The two major party system today, Republican and Democrat, virtually assures them the seats of power, because most people don’t have the backing or money to win enough to become elected and to straighten out the onslaught on an individual’s natural rights, so those (politicians) of the Republican and Democrat party keep winning decades long.

If you can understand the base of natural law concerning life, liberty and happiness one can easily tell if politicians are taking you for a ride when they propose a piece of legislation. Today it’s a healthcare bill, but its true nature will violate, “life, liberty and happiness”; all three. Just think what it will do to you: encroach on your personal “liberty” of choice, make healthcare expensive causing it to diminish your “happiness” and may even cost you your “life” due to choices available and costs of premiums.

Remember the “natural laws” you were born with and use it as your measure for anything that would get in the way of “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness”. And you will easily be able to tell if you are being taken for the ride of your “life” by politicians that are supposed to have all our natural rights at heart and not just a few they have enslaved to reelect them time after time.

What did Ronald Reagan say about Socialized medicine? One thing is for sure it diminishes, “Life, Liberty and Happiness”; all three of the “Natural Laws”
